How Couples were arrested in Thailand for dealing in cocaine and other hard substances.

Nigerian Arrested With Girlfriend For Cocaine Dealing In Thailand
||CockFM News||

Regional narcotics police arrested a Nigerian man and his Thai girlfriend for allegedly dealing cocaine across the country.

Region 2 Narcotic Suppression officers captured Michael “Mark” Ikenna, 36, and Nantana Chiewpanitch, 25, in a sting operation conducted by undercover police who arranged to purchase 10 grams of cocaine in Takhiantia March 26. Officers seized 9.8 g. of white powder from him.

Investigators then searched their apartment in Bangkok where they recovered nearly a gram of cocaine and hundreds of plastic bags police said were used to package drugs for sale in Bangkok, the East and Central regions.

Police said the Nigerian claimed he was an exporter of dried dory fish to his home country. Police countered it was a shell company used to launder his drug money.

Nantana denied involvement with drug dealing, saying she has only known Ikenna for a few months and worked in a call center in Bangkok.

Police seized more than half a million baht in property from Ikenna, including his Toyota Altis and two mobile phones.

I NEARLY SHED TEARS.

While I was on my way home yesterday, suddenly my eyes was opened to a particular scenario and I ended up developing a teary eyes.

Not that this scenario was new or novel but I became touchy and emotional while thinking deep about what I saw because I have nothing at my disposal to take care of the situation.

I was moved to tears sighting a woman sitting down on a concrete pavement by the road side on Wempco Road in Ogba with two children, while one of the children was sleeping, the other was seeing playing around in the open.

It was the one asleep that really moved my eyes to tears because she should be my daughter’s age.

I kept asking myself how possible for someone to be homeless or a destitute but I remember how endemic the scourge of poverty has been in this part of the world.

While some people are blessed with uncontrolled abundance, others as are held in abject poverty with no hope of knowing what next to do.

This sight simply potrays hopelessness and homelessness and it bothered me to the extreme seeing little children being a victim of such.

How can little children be exposed to this height of poverty that no one could explain.

Sleeping and playing in the open and in the cold is too extreme to behold and think about.

This is a pointer that the world we live in has not been fair to some class of people which bring it to the fact that many of us needs to do more in becoming a force of reckoning in taking care of the society st large.

Our society be needs to create more awareness about the plight of the less privileged and fashion policies that will help in driving welfarism of the homeless and hopeless as a front burner issue to the plight of the less privileged especially little children that are expected to be innocent and unexposed to the imbalance the entire world offers.

Hopelessness and homelessness are real and they are all present around us with frustration have a toil on the sanity of many people.

Few days before sighting this anomaly,it was the thought of a bubbling young lady that committed suicide that weighed me down and it was alleged that she went suicidal due to depression.

I kept asking myself how could a young mind be against herself until she took her life but experiences around made me to understand that some people have never have a day or a moment of happiness since they step on the earthly platform.

Life has proved unbearable to them from day one and they have not been able to ride above this plate of struggle and strive for a life that is better off in all ramification.

I wish many people we see the reason why we must do a bit to salvage the plight of the less privileged around us.

May God help everyone passing through one frustration or the other.

Depression and frustration are real but suicide can never be an option.

Never give in to it.

keep your head above water.

Tomorrow is bound to be better if you keep hope alive.

After A Job Loss, What’s Next?- 2

Many people handle job losses badly. Quite often, some are not prepared when it happens. The best way is to have an exit plan from the first day you start work. The best employee can be fired anytime. Have that at the back of your mind always. COVID 19 happened to all of us and the economy of many lie in ruins. Some jobs have disappeared forever.

So what can you do when you’re faced with this precarious situation. I’ll continue from where I left off yesterday:

  1. Take stock of your contacts

Searching for a job can be very tasking. In the midst of serious competition and with few jobs available, getting a desired job role often requires more than your skill set. It often requires the ability to be able to leverage on relationships that have been built or exists. Your ability to connect to others and maximize your relationship with them can often be the difference to quickly snapping up a job, getting interview appointments or even getting startup capital for a business.

I once worked with a younger colleague who was given a very handsome sum of money to start up a business by a client when he told the client he was leaving the job. Another was allowed to work with his client for six months, drawing salaries, until he got a job. This is one of the reasons relationships are very important. Be careful how you treat your customers. I usually tell people that when you serve others well, you’re actually building a bank of goodwill for yourself. You may need to draw from that bank later.

Take stock of your contacts. Who do you know? Connect with your network. If you belong to social clubs and associations, leverage on them. This is why I subscribe to folks belonging to and being actively involved with clubs like Rotary, Lions and others. Get involved with your alumni association and your social connections. Never underestimate the power of your network.

  1. Revamp your CV
Since you’re now in the job market, your cv has to be reviewed. Update your resume with your skills. Match your qualifications with the jobs you’re applying for. Check your CV to ensure all the information is captured appropriately.
Curriculum Vitae has its root meaning from a Latin word which means ‘course of life’. Your CV is a snapshot of who you are and what you have done- a summary of your background, experience, education, achievements, awards and other activities that may be taken into consideration when looking for a job.

Your CV is the first thing a prospective employer sees before seeing you. Oftentimes, many employers have formed their impression about the candidate based on their CV even before the in-person interview. It is therefore important that it should be well laid out with no typos, errors or spelling mistakes. I have interviewed candidates with errors in the way their names were written on their CV. Ensure that you review your CV for correctness and accuracy as all errors therein are strictly yours even if a third party produced it for you. When a candidate gives out such a CV, you create the impression of not paying attention to details and being disorganized.

  1. Update your LinkedIn Profile and Clean Up Your Social Media
You’re most likely to be checked out on LinkedIn first before any other social media platform. Spend time connecting on LinkedIn. Use a good professional picture. Update your contact information. List your relevant skills. Get endorsed by others. Most importantly, engage on LinkedIn. Be active on LinkedIn. Follow relevant influencers.

You should use your social media to build bridges especially now that you may need a bridge to cross over to the next phase of your life. This is why I often pity toxic people on social media. What if you come to an interview with someone you have trolled? Clean up your social media because many employers now conduct background checks.

  1. Get references
I once got a job because a colleague at work referred me to his former boss. He had given me a note on his call card and asked me to take it to his former boss. I did and the former boss interviewed me on the spot. I was hired after going through the process. Think of those who can give you references. Select good names in your network of contacts and approach them for their consent. A good reference can open the door. Good references work especially in situations where the referee knows key contacts in the organization you’re interested in. Many get jobs because someone put in a word for them. Sometimes, it can even be a former boss. Or a colleague.
Can someone put in a word for you?

I’ll continue tomorrow.

After A Job Loss, What’s Next?- 1

I’m writing this tonight because I read a response to my last post on soft skills where a respondent said he lost his job today. Losing a job can be a very traumatic experience. No one wants to lose his or her source of income- no matter how little it may be. A job loss means there are no more paychecks- at least for now- yet the bills will not stop coming. The rent will fall due. School fees will come if you have kids.

This is a period many fall into depression and don’t know what to do. COVID 19 took away many jobs and sources of income. A job loss however, should not be the end of the world. There are certain actions one can take to handle this temporary situation well.

  1. Take stock of your current finances
Do an inventory of your financial picture. How much do you have saved? What liquid assets do you have? Liquid assets are things you can easily convert to cash. What other assets do you have? What bills are going to fall due within the short term and long term? If you’re married, do this with your partner and consider their own income too. Are you on HMO? You want to be sure you can handle any unexpected medical emergencies. What about your pension contributions? Can you draw from it? Take steps to take control of your finances- stop any unnecessary spending. Plug any hole immediately.
  2. Take stock of your skills
    What skills do you have?
There are 3 major skills employers look for:
  3. Employability skills
  4. Transferable Skills
  5. Technical Skills

Employability skills are basic skills without which it is very difficult for you to navigate the workplace. They are the skills one requires irrespective of the sector or job role- foundational in nature and critical to your job-readiness. A few of them are good communication, motivation, initiative, reliability, following instructions, team work, patience, resilience and emotional control among others.

Transferable Skills are expertise that are useful across various jobs and industries. This means the skills are the same even if one employee moves to another company. Examples are research and analytic skills, problem-solving, critical thinking, strategy, numeracy, written communication, time management, work ethics and multi-tasking.

Technical Skills help you perform specific tasks. They are often practical and relates to IT, mechanical, scientific tasks, etc but are not necessarily technological in nature. Examples of technical skills include knowledge of a programming language, software proficiency, project management and data analysis among others.

I will continue with the second part tomorrow.

Why She slapped her?

||CockFM News||

Nollywood actress, Remi Surutu has finally revealed the reason why she slapped her colleague, Fathia Balogun, at a burial ceremony in Lagos.

According to reports, the movie stars attended the burial ceremony of Mr Bamidele Omosehin’s late dad. However, trouble started when Remi Surutu walked up to Fathia Balogun’s table at the event and landed an unprovoked slap on her face.

The incident led to a major fight between the actresses and it took the intervention of other guests to separate them and calm their frayed nerves.

Remi Surutu finally opens

“My fight with Fathia Williams started when I began hearing all manner of jargons, she was saying about me. I heard she’s been going about running me down in the presence of many of our colleagues and movie producers. She’s messing up big time and somebody needed to put her in a place where she belongs.

“This is the person I took in like a sister. We were very close when she joined the industry. I can say it boldly that I was instrumental to her relationship with Saidi Balogun then. They were both living with me in Magodo. I had to send them out because they always fight, and they almost injured my mum.

“I don’t know why she suddenly grow that hatred for me and started running me down. Till date, I still can not say what I’ve done to deserve that from her. There are so many other things she did that I can’t say here.”

“Faithia is so full of herself, probably because they used to deceive her, by calling her the Queen of all the Actresses, “Pelu awon tani”. I decided to confront her and deal with her at that event, because somebody needed to call her to order. And God saved her that day and thank God for the intervention of other colleagues around. I told her “if you move closer to me, I will break bottle on your head”

“When people started calling us to settle it amicably, I told them I am not ready to settle anything with her, and I don’t feel remorseful for attacking her. I have no regret at all, she’s really messing up and she needed to be put in her place”.
