TODAYS EDITORIAL REVIEW–If you’re not happyy with government, vote right in 2019—Ooni.—(5 minutes read)

Standard

This was the submission made by the Ooni of Ile-Ife,Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunnusi in an interview on “THE OSASU SHOW’ recently while addressing Nigerian Youth on the need to stop complaining about Nigerian government, rather they should put on their thinking cap in putting the right set of people into political offices through their vote in 2019.

In this light of this, this is the editorial review on the aforementioned by “mylittlesimplethought”:

No doubt about it, he was right by challenging Nigerian youth to stop being spectators that spend bunch of their time lamenting and complaining about the present realities in Nigeria now.

It is not a gain saying that  Nigerian youth has been at the receiving end of bad form of governance that our so called leaders are known for.

nigerian youth

The economy is at a low ebb, unemployment is skyrocketting, poor infracstructure, health sector and educational sectors are not left behind in being poorly managed by the present day government.Insecurity and poor electricity provision are part of the present realities the nigerian society is baffling with with no single solution in view that will put an end to these series of abnormalities and anomalies the nigerian society is experiencing.

The blame should be apportioned to nobody but the nigerian youths that have been passive and have no interest in their contribution to leadership in Nigeria.

Democratic principles gives us an opportunity to determine our fate every four  years in casting our vote for the right person but instead of conrtributing our quota in electing leaders that will serve us well, we are always fond of electing wrong and incompetent leaders as long as they are financially capable  and buoyant enough to use money to buy our votes and after electing them and they refuse to give us the dividends of democracy, we starts complaining and lamenting about the poor state of things in our society.

Instead of complaining and wailing, all hands must be on deck to take our destiny into our hands in casting our votes for leaders who understands deeply the what is needed to salvage the plight of the masses at the moment of our national existence.

In a country whereby leadership is defined in the concept of corruption and personal aggradisement to the point whereby some individuals can even be submitted to be far richers than the Nigerian State, there is nothing meaningful that will be outcome of such a society other than criminalities and vices with the future of our youth being a mirage.

The Nigerian society is in dire need of leaders that believed in sacrifices and selflessness, not leaders that are interested in leadership because of the juicy realities any of such position provides for those who are opportuned to navigate their ways to the corridor of power through crooked means.

The time to take action is now,we are almost getting to another electioneering period whereby many will surface from no where as a saviour but at the end when they get to the place of leadership, they end up playing brutus on people that invested their time and energy to the election that made them what they are.

Presently, there is no need for a dibia and soothsayer to tell all of us that we are in a deep shit with the way things are now. Many states government are having catalogues of salary arrears that are yet to be paid with their states been bankrupt now and the inhabitatnts of such states keep wallowing in abject poverty.

Nigeria is a nation that is blessed with leaders that knows little or nothing about the concept of leadership and this is really affecting the society at large with little or nothing to show as dividends of democracy since 1999.

It is time all nigerian youth stand up and rise up to their responsibility to fashion a way whereby our society becomes better. We should stop wasting our time lammenting about poor performance of our so called leaders who are bent on pushing this country into extinction and abyss of darkness.

The only time that give us the opportunity to get things right is every four years whereby we are always opportuned to decide our fate on the platform of balloting. Our fates for the future needs to be decided by us and it has to be developed and designed to the realm whereby posterity will have something meaningful as a record or breathough that they will meet on ground.

No one pray for battles and wars but the present realities and confusion been rampart in the Nigerian States might spell doom for the entire Nigerian nation with the drums of seccession, terrorism and extremism, Fulani Herdsmen attack, militancy, kidnapping and every other source of vices being in reality in the Nigerian Society.

The Nigerian States really need restructuring as it is submitted by erstwhile military ruler but resrtructuring is not enough if the structure of governance is still centre around prolifigacy and corruption is not niped in the bud on time.If we restructure without finding a means of eliminating the thirst of citizens of Nigeria for sharp practices, it will just amount to an effort in futility.

A stitch in time saves nine.

We are to build our future by ourselves by being active and participatory in taking the mantle of leadership that has the core of its tenets in sacrifice, servanthood and selflessness. It is until when this is done that our hope of building an eggalitarian society becomes achievable and a reality that will transcend the present and the coming generation will end up being a partaker of what is obtainable in this form of leadership.

The Nigerian nation must be saved from the grip of those who are bent and unrepentant in their desire in turning Nigeria to a failed state.

The time is ripe and rife for all of us to put our hands on deck to deliver this great nation from the grip of bad leadership that has made a country once known as a giant of Africa to be wallowing and struggling to live up to her expectation in every ramification of national existence.

Lets work together to build a great nation.
