Police had blocked off the site of the first blast and photographers, cameramen and reporters were standing around in a loose group when the bomber struck, killing seven journalists outright and wounding several, two of whom later died.

The bomber appeared to have deliberately targeted journalists, presenting a press card to police before joining the group standing near the first blast site, interior ministry spokesman Najib Danesh said.

In all, 26 people died in the two blasts, which were claimed by Islamic State.

Among the dead were Shah Marai, veteran chief photographer for Agence France-Presse in Afghanistan, who had worked for the agency for 22 years. Also killed was Maharam Durani, a young female producer who had joined Radio Azadi, a local station, only a week earlier.

Reuters photographer Omar Sobhani, an old friend and colleague of Shah Marai, was standing next to him when the bomb exploded.

“We were standing on a slight rise to get a better shot when I heard a bang and saw him on the ground. I was stunned, I couldn’t believe it,” said Sobhani, who suffered minor wounds.

“He was a very good photographer – the best – but he was also a very good man.”

Among a litany of setbacks since the Taliban were ousted in 2001 and tens of thousands of deaths, Afghanistan’s lively and independent media sector has stood out as a success but it has suffered heavy losses.

According to the Afghanistan Journalists Safety Committee, at least 80 journalists and media workers have been killed working in the country since 2001.

But there had never been a day when so many were killed in the same attack. As well as AFP and Radio Azadi, which lost two employees in the attack, local stations Tolo News, 1TV and Mashal TV also lost staff.

Shah Marai’s career stretched back to the days of the Taliban when he joined AFP as a driver before becoming a full time photographer in 2002, chronicling Afghanistan’s long and uncertain struggle to find peace.

By contrast, Maharam Durani’s career was just beginning. A final year student who had joined Radio Azadi as a producer on a women’s program just a week earlier, she had stopped off at the site on her way to work in case she could help, said Hameed Momand, head of Radio Azadi in Kabul.

It was the worst attack on journalists since 2016, when seven Tolo TV employees were killed by a Taliban suicide attacker who rammed a car bomb into a bus driving them home from the station. The Taliban had warned earlier that they considered journalists legitimate targets.

Globally, it was the worst attack on journalists in a single incident since 31 reporters and photographers were killed in a massacre in the southern Philippines in 2009.

WILDER GIVES ANTHONY JOSHUA 24HOURS TO ACCEPT $50 MILLION OFFER–(3 MINUTES READ).

Anthony Joshua has received an offer from Deontay Wilder, confirmed as a 50-50 split with a guarantee of $50m and has been given until midnight on Friday to respond.

Joshua’s trainer Rob McCracken and promoter Eddie Hearn, received emails sent directly from Wilder’s personal address, with his promoter Shelly Finkel subsequently confirming an offer had been made.

Wilder also made an offer on Instagram and Joshua immediately responded saying he would accept if it was £50m.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Finkel confirmed a take-it-or-leave it $50m (£35.9m) offer had been made, with a deadline of “close of play on Thursday” (Friday 12am UK time).

“We want [Joshua] to fight Deontay in his next fight and we offered him $50m,” he told Sky Sports.

“If he accepts it, it will be there. Al Haymon and I have never not delivered what we’ve offered.

“We were offered $12.5m (£8.8m) to fight him but we have offered four times that. If [Joshua] says he is not going to take $50m, it means he doesn’t really want to fight him next.”

KIM JONG UN WILL WALK ACROSS BORDER FOR SUMMIT WITH MOON—(4 MINUTES READ).

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon-Jae-in will plant a commemorative tree and inspect an honor guard together after Kim walks across the border Friday for their historic summit, Seoul officials said Thursday.

The talks on the southern side of the border village of Panmunjom are expected to focus on North Korea’s nuclear program, but there will be plenty of symbolism when Kim becomes the first North Korean leader to be in the southern section of the border since the end of the 1950-53 Korean War.

Moon will receive Kim after he crosses the concrete slabs that form the rivals’ military demarcation line Friday morning. They will then walk together for about 10 minutes to a plaza where they’ll inspect a South Korean honor guard, Moon’s chief of staff Im Jong-seok told reporters.

After signing the guestbook and taking a photo together at Peace House, the venue for Friday’s summit, the two leaders will start formal talks at 10:30 a.m. (0130 GMT). They will later plant a pine tree on the border using a mixture of soil from both counties’ mountains and water from their respective rivers. The tree, which is beloved by both Koreas, dates to 1953, the year the war ended, Im said.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon-Jae-in will plant a commemorative tree and inspect an honor guard together after Kim walks across the border Friday for their historic summit, South Korean officials say. (April 26)

Engraved on the stone plaque for the tree will be the phrase, “Peace and Prosperity Are Planted,” as well as the signatures of the leaders. After the tree-planting, the two plan to stroll together to a footbridge where a signpost for the military demarcation line stands, Im said.

The leaders will meet again in the afternoon and later attend a banquet, Im said.

Im said Kim is to be accompanied by nine top North Korean officials, including his influential sister, Kim Yo Jong. Im said South Korea hopes Kim’s wife, Ri Sol Ju, will attend parts of Friday’s summit, but Ri’s attendance hasn’t been agreed to yet.

It’s also not clear how the leaders will announce the results of the summit. The most difficult part, Im said, centers on North Korea’s level of denuclearization commitment.

Friday’s summit and Kim’s planned meeting with President Donald Trump in May or early June were arranged after Kim recently expressed a wiliness to put his nuclear program up for negotiation after a year of nuclear and missile tests.

12 BASIC CAUSES OF SOCIETAL INJUSTICE?–(6 MINUTES READ).

The length and breadth of the entire world comprise different societies with different culture, tradition, beliefs and religion. As each society differs in many aspects so also the challenges being observed as a reality in each of this society is quite different in all ramification.

No human society has been in existence without her taste of one challenge or the other that has been a source of major imbalance that is powerful and potent enough to tear the fabric of such society apart. The existence of every human society always flourish to the extreme in the presence of a particular challenge or the other that always bring the society down to her knees if such challenge is not properly and promptly managed in accordance to basic necessities that will help in finding a lasting solutions to the effect of such challenge.

SOCIETY 1

Keeping mute in the face of tyranny, gross misconduct and indiscipline is the most heinous evil bedevilling humanity.Unchecked and uncontrolled complacency, incompetence, laxity, levity and mediocrity are communicable. They infest and dampens the soul of men unabatedly.

Men of goodwill get discouraged when the consciousness, urge, passion and drive to achieve excellence is watered down, when everybody believed that nothing should be done in addressing and correcting the scourge of vices and other social ills ravaging the existence of mankind.

The greenhouse effect of keeping mute on the entirety of our existence may never be quantified now but it destroys the fabrics of our existence gradually without any remedy.

The recent upsurge and waves of criminality started showing it’s ugly head unknowingly thousands of years ago when everyone started looking for easy means of getting things done without considering the short term, medium term and long term effect on the existence of mankind.

Now,humanity has gotten to a point whereby values have been totally watered down, replaced and eroded with vices, incompetence, complacency and mediocrity taken the centre stage.

It is pitiful, appalling and disheartning that in my generation, criminals are celebrated as celebrities with their evil accomplishments and achievements being trumpeted to high heavens by shallow minded trumpeters and pipers.

People that struggled to make something out of nothing, people on the streets that are making something out of their sweat are relegated and seeing as downtrodden by the society.Meanwhile, they are expected to be celebrated by our society as people that refused to compromise their dignity for a piece of meat or a morsel of meal.

FOUNDATION OF SOCIETAL INJUSTICE.

Any society that is plagued with injustice will end up being enmeshed and accompanied in all round imbalance that might end up destroying the entire fabrics of the society with good conscience being a thing of the past in such a society.

The foundation of injustice in any society could be traced to:

1.Gradual systematic decadence.

2.Dishonesty and untruthfulness.

3.Lack of good home training of the millenia.

4.Extreme affinity for money and mundane things.

5.Building society structure on extreme profanity and pleasure.

6.Merit being downgraded for mediocrity.

7.Corruption,mismanagement and misappropriation of public commonwealth.

8.Making legal procedure and making the contents of the constitution irrelevant.

9.Building powerful people instead of building system.

10.Poverty and oppression with subjudigation.

11.Bad leadership

12.Poor economic and monetary management.

SOCIETY 3

With all these, it is impossible to build an eggalitarian society that will end up being classified as a developed entity when the dignity and integrity of human in such society are not referenced and respected.

In conclusion, kudos to all the soldiers on the street that are busy doing the right thing that will end up buiding the society that will allow the dignity of every human to prosper and flourish in the space of time.

Curse be unto those usurpers that are using their ideas and position of authority to cause pain, pang and agony to people around them.

Every inhabitant of every society must endeavour to do the right thing that will enhance the building of the right society.

Let’s join hands together in building a world whereby respect for the dignity of every mankind will be sancrosant.

Be your brothers’ keeper.

7 SIMPLE WAYS OF MAINTAINING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.—(7 MINUTES READ).

The introductory portion of this particular publication was posted on facebook on the 9th of January 2017.I read through it recently and I discovered it will serve the purpose of being an addition to the spiritual growth of my readers, viewers and followers in one way or the other.

It goes thus:

When you loose your tune with God, you will end up loosing your turn with men.Immortality through mortality is enhanced when you maintain continuous connectivity with divinity. It is only those who can lean down before God that will rise up strong with men.

Reflecting the attitude of divinity and displaying the attributes of eternity is possible and could be enhanced when your knowledge about the demands of spending sternity with God while on earth is continuosly and constantly sought for accompanied with efforts to have deeper conscious spiritual knowledge about God and His ways.

Your thirst and yearnings for the beauty of divinity and the reality of eternity while on earth make men seek your attention concerning every affair of life because the spiritual has the midas touch of turning whatever is present and available in the physical to a source of help and a source of hope for anyone who believed that the spiritual superceed the physical in all ramification.

The possibility of the emergence of the glory of God in your life is strictly through your connectivity with divinity. No one radiates and reflects God’s purpose for humanity without any knowledge about divinity and it is the consciousness of your relationship with the concepts of spirituality that enhances the establishment of divine enablement and spiritual empowerment necessary to tackle and efface the myriads of challenges being faced by the entire mankind presently and in the years to come.

DIVINITY 3
7 SIMPLE MEANS OF MAINTAINING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

No doubt about it,knowledge is power and power is synonymous in all concepts and contexts to power. The versatility and the vastness of your knowledge about divinity through the word of God is the solution to all challenges bedevilling humanity.Hence, the necessity to have a deep knowledge about divinity through God is of essence and it is a demand and a desire placed as a responsibility and a duty on all humans who are ready to make an impact and an impart in the course of their existence on earth. It is essentially valuable and it should not be traded with anything present in this earthly pedestal that we are all occupying.

Once, your knowledge about God is vast and fertile, the opportunity to become great and live a meaningful life becomes cheap, easy and achievable.

Knowledge about divinity through God is essential for the emergence and fulfilment of God’s purpose for every human on the surface of earth.

Hence, there is a need to understand ways by which knowledge about divinity through God can be enhanced which will invariably have a positive influence on your relationship with God.

Your relationship with God is the most valuable and essential  undertaken that should be guided, enhanced and maintained which will invariably have a positive influence on your relationship with God.

Our relationship with God is the most essential personal endeavour that should be engineered in a manner that God becomes everything to you if you are to live at the centre of your plan and purpose of God for your life while you are existing now and in the life to come which is eternity.

Hence, the need to highlight some cogent scriptural bullets that will boost and enhance the maintenance of your relationship with God.

These are:

  • Fasting and Prayer—-Mark 9 vs 29 KJV.
  • Holiness and righteousness—-Hebrew 12 vs 24 KJV,Proverb 14 vs 34 KJV.
  • Faith—Mark 11 vs 24 KJV,Romans 10 vs 10 KJV,Hebrew 11 vs 1 KJV.
  • Giving—Proverb 11 vs 25 KJV,Proverbs 3 vs 27 KJV.
  • Obeying the commandments of God—Deutronomy 28 vs 1-68 KJV.
  • Meditating on the Word of God—Joshua 1 vs 8 KJV.

DIVINITY 2
7 SIMPLE MEANS OF MAINTAING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

With these and all other ones not highlighted in the course of this publication, any child of God who craves for a deeper relationship with God must maximize all these as a viable means which could enhance optimally the vastness and the viability of the knowledge of divinity as it is chronicled expressly and simply in the scripture.

HOW DO YOU REMEMBER THE DEATH AND RESSURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST?—(3 MINUTES READ).

Our connectivity with divinity is marred, mauled and destroyed when we are grossly enmeshed in sin.Our relationship with God suffers setback when sin is in place.

God stays off when we spend our life wallowing in iniquity.

jESUS CHRIST 2

The presence of God in our life simply connites the presence of grace. When God stays off, grace simply stays off.Likewise when sin stays, grace leaves. The enemy of grace is sin.Sin and grace cannot be yoked together by any standard, principle, idealogy and philosophy.

When one stays, the other must leave or disappear—Romans 6 vs 1-23.

Just as darkness fizzle out when light appears, grace also disappear when sin appears.

The rememberance of the death and ressurrection of Jesus Christ is incomplete without the desire to live a righteous life. The purpose of celebrating Easter is to give all mankind grace to overcome the stronghold of sin through salvation.

A meaningful Easter will be obtainable when you take your mind away from the celebration and focus your eyes on the grace offered by redemption through the death and ressurrection of Jesus Christ.

This the right moment to ask God fpr grace to overvcome sin. Many people celebrate the remembrance of the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ but few desire understanding and adhering to the purpose of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day.

God desired that we are holy just as HE is holy.

jESUS CHRIST 1

A complete and meaningful Easter celebration is exhibited by asking God for forgiveness which is expressed by livung a sanctified life.

Remember failure flourishes when grace founders.

Police fire teargas at refugees in camp in western Rwanda—(3 Minutes Read).

KIGALI (Reuters) – Rwandan police fired teargas on Monday at refugees and injured at least one child after senior police officers and government officials visiting their camp were pelted with stones, the refugees said.

A police spokesman did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comment, while the government said it was taking measures to “normalize the situation” at the Kiziba camp in western Rwanda, home to about 17,000 Congolese refugees.

The refugees said they feared the police intended to arrest the executive committee that helps to run the camp.

In February police killed at least five refugees and injured 20 at the camp after protests over cuts in food rations turned violent.

“They are firing teargas. One child was injured in (the) head and was transferred to Kigali,” Muligande Ntabana, a refugee at the camp told Reuters by telephone.

Another refugee, Captain Ferdinand, 32, a father of three, said: “We hear they want to arrest the committee. We need to go back home. I don’t know if requesting to go back should (be replied) with bullets and tear gas.”

In a statement, Rwanda’s Ministry for Disaster Management and Refugees blamed the refugees’ executive committee for the unrest and said the protests must end immediately.

“Violent, unruly and provocative conduct in the camp is unlawful and must stop immediately to allow the restoration of peace, law and order,” it said.

In February, the refugees staged a protest walk of 15 km (10 miles) over a 25 percent cut in food rations provided by the U.N. refugee agency UNHCR due to a funding shortage.

In total, Rwanda hosts about 174,000 refugees, including 57,000 people from neighboring Burundi who fled violence in 2015. Most of the rest fled the Democratic Republic of Congo during bouts of instability there over the past 20 years.

ISRAELI SAYS 3 PALESTINIAN INFILTRATOR FROM GAZA KILLED—(7 MINUTES READ).

Israeli troops fatally shot two Palestinians who infiltrated the country from Gaza and attacked soldiers with explosives Sunday night, and in a separate incident killed another Palestinian who tried to breach the border, the military said.

Another Palestinian was detained in the latter incident, and two more were caught trying to cross the border in a third case, the military said.

The Gaza border has been tense in recent weeks, with the Islamic militant group Hamas that rules Gaza urging mass Palestinian protests there every Friday as part of a weeks-long campaign against a decade-old blockade of the territory. The protests have turned violent and 39 Palestinians have been killed during the unrest, which began March 3

Israel says that it is defending its sovereign border, including nearby communities, and that its troops target only instigators. Israel accuses Hamas, which is sworn to Israel’s destruction, of trying to carry out attacks under the guise of the mass protests.

The military said that “two terrorists who infiltrated into Israel hurled explosive devices” at soldiers Sunday night. The soldiers returned fire, killing them.

About a half hour earlier, two Palestinians damaged the security fence and tried to cross into Israel. Troops opened fire, killing one, the military said. The other was detained for questioning, it said.

In a third incident, soldiers spotted two Palestinians trying to breach the border. They were arrested and found to have knives and wire cutters on their persons, the military said.

There was no immediate comment from Hamas in Gaza.

Also Sunday, the Israeli army said most of the deaths of Palestinians during the Gaza unrest have been unintentional. An unidentified senior officer in Israel’s southern command told the newspaper Haaretz that snipers have been aiming at protesters’ legs, but people have been killed after bending down, when struck by a ricocheting bullet or when a sniper misses the target.

A second senior officer confirmed the report, saying that while there is no exact breakdown, the “overwhelming majority” of deaths were unintentional, including a teenage boy and two Palestinian journalists who apparently were caught in crossfire. He said an exception was Friday, when soldiers opened fire at a large crowd that attempted to break through the border fence, killing three people.

The officer spoke on condition of anonymity under military guidelines.

Israel has been accused by the United NationsEuropean Union and rights groups of using excessive force against unarmed protesters. Israel says it is aiming only at instigators, and accuses Hamas of using civilians for cover to carry out attacks.

Israel says some of those protesting have tried to damage the border fence or plant explosives along it. Others have hurled improvised explosives and firebombs at soldiers while others have flown kites with burning rags attached to set Israeli fields on fire.

There is considerable fear among Israelis of a mass breach in which Gazans stream across, militants mixed in, wreaking havoc. Israel has warned that anyone approaching the border fence is risking their lives and accused Hamas of cynically exploiting civilians for its agenda.

Hamas has attacked Israelis with suicide bombings, shootings and rockets over the years. For more than a decade the group has tightly controlled Gaza, quashing dissent.

Hamas says the protests are aimed at breaking a crippling border blockade that was imposed by Israel and Egypt after the Islamic militant group overran Gaza in 2007.

The blockade has devastated Gaza’s economy, made it virtually impossible for people to enter and exit the territory, and left residents with just a few hours of electricity a day. Tap water is undrinkable and its Mediterranean coast has been polluted with untreated waste. Life in the coastal strip has deteriorated further in recent months, with rising unemployment and grinding poverty.

Other blockade-busting tactics by Hamas have failed over the years, including three cross-border wars with Israel and repeated rounds of unsuccessful power-sharing talks with the West Bank-based Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The last round collapsed, in part because Hamas refused to disarm.

The protests also press for a “return” of Palestinian refugees and their descendants to what is now Israel. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled or were displaced in the 1948 war over Israel’s creation.

The protests are to culminate May 15, the anniversary of Israel’s founding. Palestinians mark the date as their “nakba,” or catastrophe.

JENNIFER LOPEZ TALKS ALEX RODRIGUEZ ENGAGEMENT RUMORS AFTER “EL ANILLO” STIRS SPECULATION—(7 MINUTES READ).

Jennifer Lopez says her new single “El Anillo,” which translates to “The Ring,” is indeed about her relationship with Alex Rodriguez but that she’s “not trying to run into anything” when it comes to marriage. The 48-year-old divorced singer premiered her new Spanish-language song at the 2018 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday. The song contains lyrics such as “Where’s the ring?” and “I’ve never felt anything this big, and your wild side drives me mad” and mentions a “home run with three on base” and the number 13, spurring speculation that the song is about her retired star Yankees player boyfriend to propose to her.

J.Lo talked about the song, which was written by Venezuelan songwriter Oscarcito, in an interview with Ebro Darden on Beats 1 on Apple Music.

“Here’s what’s happening,” Lopez said. “Right now, the songs that I have coming out, everything that’s going on with women—it’s a very empowering time for us. It’s a good time for us. We’re like, ‘Yo this is not OK/this is OK, I want to be treated with respect, I want my place in your life, I want to be paid equally.’ And my next two songs kind of deal with that. It’s like, ‘Where’s my ring, and where’s my money?'”

“We’re good right now,” she said about A-Rod. “I’m not trying to rush into anything, I’ve done that before, to no avail. I’m a little bit more grown up now and I like to let things take their natural course. We are really kind of good for each other and are really having the best time and our kids love each other.”

Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez

She said the songwriter called her and asked her if he could write the song and that she gave him her permission, without knowing what he had in mind. Lopez said she listed to the track by herself first and then got nervous about letting Rodriguez hear it, as she sought his blessing because the song is about both of them.
“I go, ‘Baby you should come listen to this,’ and he’s like, ‘Oh yeah OK.’ I said ‘I really want you to hear it, before I say that I’ll record it,'” she said. “So he listened to it and he’s so funny, he’s like, ’13?’ You know, which is his number. He goes, ‘Grand slam, home run, three on base,’ he’s like, ‘This almost sounds like it’s about us!’ I said, ‘Baby, it is about us! They wrote it for me to sing!’ I said, ‘Are you OK with that?’ I said, ‘I think it’s a great song. I love it. I think it’s what most women want to say. You know like, ‘Yo, what’s up, we’re good, what are we doing?’ He was like, ‘Yeah baby do it, that’ll be fun.’ He goes, ‘I love the song.'”The videos features Lopez as a golden queen. She said on Beats 1 that it is probably one of her favorite videos.”Again, that whole idea of women being queens and understanding that and treating yourself like that and making somebody fight for you,” she said. “That’s what the concept of it was. It’s like, ‘Fight for me, and then you can ask me to marry you.’ And then, ‘OK where’s my ring?'”

J.Lo and A-Rod have been together for more than a year and have been seen spending time together with all their kids.Earlier this year, Lopez talked to E! News’ Will Marfuggi about the possibility of getting engaged, as Rodriguez stood nearby.”No, I don’t like to pressure anybody for anything,” she said, laughing and looking at A-Rod, who smiled.

Last September E! News’ Sibley Scoles asked Rodriguez, in reference to engagement rumors, “Could the question be popped?

“Jennifer’s amazing,” he replied. “It’s nice, it’s nice. You’re gonna make me blush now! Now I’m sweating. No, she’s an amazing girl.”

During the interview, Lopez also talked another new single, the Spanglish “Dinero,” which features DJ Khaled and rising star Cardi B.”I always liked Cardi,” she said about the rapper. “I followed Cardi when she was just doing videos and she was, you know, working in the clubs. I just thought she had a street intelligence that I liked, and she had a logic that just made me laugh and reminded me of girls from the Bronx. Which is why I liked her. People would be like, ‘Who are you listening to?’ and I was like, ‘This girl makes me laugh.’ She’s so cute, she’s so funny…It was just, it was real.”

DINO MELAYE’S RECALL:KOGI APC REACTS TO RESULTS OF OUTCOME—(3 MINUTES READ).

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo, has reacted to the outcome of the recall process against Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West Senatorial District.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission had on Sunday declared that Melaye remains a senator after the signatures verification process to the petition for his recall fell short of requirements.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Sunday, Ametuo expressed delight that the efforts had come to a premature end through the collective will of the people of Kogi West Senatorial District.

He said that the result is very clear that Melaye is the most popular senator ever produced by Kogi West.

According to him, this is a sign of what to expect in the 2019 general elections.

“Melaye, the only senator our party has in Kogi State, won with 94.66 per cent leaving the remaining 5.34 per cent to the petitioners.

“The messages are very clear; that Sen. Melaye is the most popular senator ever produced by Kogi West.

“No amount of financial inducement and coercion will change the will of the people of Kogi State in future elections,’’ the statement read.

Ametuo, however, commended the high level of neutrality and transparency displayed by the Independent National Electoral Commission and other stakeholders throughout the exercise.

“It gives us high optimism that future elections will be very free and fair. INEC therefore deserves commendations for the job well done,” he said.

The chairman called on the petitioners and Melaye as well as his followers to embrace peace and heed the voice of God, “because the voice of the people is the voice of God.’’

“I call on all members of our party to conduct themselves in a manner that will boost the image of our great party and not things that will further cause disrepute in our party,” he said.

Meanwhile, INEC said it cannot be held responsible for the poor turnout of petitioners in Saturday’s verification of signatures for the recall of Melaye.

Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers

1. The country home of the embattled President General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo at Ukehe in Enugu State, was on Sunday ripped apart by bomb blast.

According to the Enugu State Police, the blast emanated from an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, which was thrown into his house by unknown persons from outside his compound.

2. Some bandits, during the weekend, reportedly attacked a mining site at Janruwa Village, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing 14 miners and injuring many others.

It was gathered that the bandits, who invaded the mining site in their hundreds, riding on motor bikes, opened fire on everyone in sight.

3. The Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba N’edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II has called on the federal government to stop the incessant killings by suspected herdsmen in the country.

He also enjoined the Presidency to take necessary steps that would strengthen security in every part of the country.

4. Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has called on the Federal Government to do more to end attacks and killings allegedly by criminal herdsmen in parts of the country.

The Nobel Laureate, who expressed regrets that some communities had been sacked by the criminals, causing residents to flee, said there was the need to order the invaders out or drive them away and provide security for safe return of residents.

5. President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Dr ‘Supo Ayokunle has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to forget re-election in 2019, if the incessant killings by herdsmen, as well as general insecurity in the country are not urgently addressed.

The President, however, called on Christians and Nigerians in general, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of next year’s general election.

6. The Senator Representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has reacted to the failed attempt to recall him from the Nigerian Senate.

Melaye, who is currently in the Intensive Care Unit after a face-off with security agencies last week, thanked Nigerians, especially his constituents for standing by him.

7. The Indigenous People of Biafra has called on President Donald Trump of America, who is scheduled to meet President Muhammadu Buhari today, to compel him (Buhari) to release their members in various detention facilities, who were being held for celebrating his inauguration.

IPOB said that it viewed the invitation of President Buhari to the US as a slap on democracy, especially as his actions since coming to power in 2015 has shown his aversion for democracy.

8. Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, has claimed Boko Haram insurgents strolled into Abuja at will, attacking critical infrastructures, under the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan.

He told newsmen after a media tour in the United States, that under Jonathan, the insurgents were on rampage unlike what was obtainable today.

9. A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bolaji Ahmed Tinubu, has identified what is dividing the country.

He said lack of understanding of the difficult situation Nigeria is going through was the major cause of division among the people.

10. The Coalition for Nigeria Movement, CNM, led by former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari.

The CNM wondered why the President should be busy campaigning in different parts of the country despite the killings in the North-Central, particularly in Benue State.

A LETTER TO YOU—(7 MINUTES READ).

www.Mlst.blog

In the comfort of my living room,

On a cool Sunday evening,

I have been doing nothing but relaxing,

From the stress of domestic chores,

I have been resting.

Far away from the hustling and burstling of the city,

I laid down low thinking about you.

In my comfort and convenience,

I kept wondering,

I kept asking myself,

What exactly I have left undone,

I kept thinking about my day,

I kept wondering about,

How I have spent my day,

I tried to think that I have done all that is necessary for the day,

Something in me,

Kept telling me that,

My day is incomplete.

NEWS:HERDSMEN KILLING:BUHARI SHOULD FORGET 2019 IF BLOODSHED CONTINUES–CAN—(5 MINUTES READ).

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Dr ‘Supo Ayokunle has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to forget re-election in 2019, if the incessant killings by herdsmen, as well as general insecurity in the country is not urgently addressed.

Ayokunle stated this on Sunday, when he joined the Pastor of numberOritamefa Baptist Church, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Reverend Dr Remi Awopegba, and other clerics and church members as they marched with placards, in response to the directive by the umbrella body of Christians in Nigeria, CAN, to hold peaceful protests within the premises of their churches.

The President, however, called on Christians and Nigerians in general, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of next year’s general election.

Recall that had urged Christian faithful to stage national protest against the unending killings and bloodshed in the country.

He said: “Christians, all over the country, have gathered in unity to say no to bloodshed in Nigeria. Since 2009, bloodshed has continued, and administration after administration has been promising and assuring us not to fear, telling us to go about our various businesses, telling us they are on top of the situation, but we have seen that they are not on top of it. Bloodshed has continued.”

“It used to be just Boko Haram, but now, herdsmen, especially the Fulani people, have joined them, and they have been killing people and decimating communities. Now, they have concentrated on Christian communities – the Middle Belt – which have a majority of Christians. They have been killing and maiming, and to cap it all, in the past week, they murdered two priests and also killed people who went to worship. If we are not safe inside the house of God, where again do they expect us to be safe? And the Inspector General of Police is doing nothing.”

“We have always heard of unknown gunmen. When will these unknown gunmen become known? Are they not humans? What of the intelligence service of the security agencies? Why are they inept? Instead of recovering guns from murderous herdsmen, they are asking people licensed to own guns to submit their guns? What kind of security approach is that? It’s questionable and shows sign of complicity. We have lost faith in the security agencies and all security chiefs must be sacked. If bloodshed continues, this administration should forget about 2019. We cannot continue like this. Enough is enough.”

“It is time to use our votes to say no to a government that cannot protect the citizens. I’ll advise citizens to be up and doing, be circumspect, and get their PVCs and be ready to vote out a government that cannot protect them. Whether Buhari is willing to re-contest or not is not my problem. My problem is that he cannot continue to be there while bloodshed continues; while herdsmen continue to decimate communities, and none of the perpetrators are brought to book. How many of them have you heard of being brought to book?”.

Also speaking, Reverend Awopegba, called on Christians in governance to live up to their faith by upholding righteousness.

Awopegba, however, urged Christians to be law abiding, just as he encouraged security operatives to step up efforts at ensuring the security of lives and property.

From the stress of domestic chores,

Far away from the hustling and burstling of the city,

I laid down low thinking about you.

In my comfort and convenience,

I kept wondering,

I kept asking myself,

What exactly I have left undone,

I kept thinking about my day,

I kept wondering about,

How I have spent my day,

I tried to think that I have done all that is necessary for the day,

Something in me,

Kept telling me that,

My day is incomplete.

letter 3

I kept asking myself questions,

What is that thing,

I left unattended to.

In the midst of deep thinking,

I recollected that one thing is not yet done,

Later realized that,

I haven’t pen a word,

Later realized that,

I haven’t scribe and write.

In order to have a complete day,

I composed and comport myself,

To scribe and write,

In the course of thinking about,

What to write about,

I realized that you are in my mind.

Eventhough, I didn’t know you,

Irrespective of the distance between us,

Despite the differences between us,

Something keeps telling me that you are waiting for a word from me.

I might be far away from you,

I might be of different language, colour, race, tribe and religion,

One thing that made us,

Is nothing but

The bond of humanity.

What exactly is the situation around you?

What are you passing through at this moment?

Are you giving up now?

Do you think your problem has no solution?

Do you think you are alone?

Do you think that the world is wicked to you?

Are you depressed?

Are you contemplating suicide?

Are you inconvenient and uncomfortable?

Are you loosing hope,

Is your faith in a better day becoming impossible?

No matter the ugliness of the situation around you,

No matter the dirtiness of the shame you are enmeshed in,

No matter the depth of disappointment,

No matter the vicious cycle of generational penury,

No matter how weak and feeble you might be,

I want you to know,

I want to you to realize and understand,

I want you to believe in yourself,

I want you to uphold your confidence,

I want you to be faith-filled and hopeful.

It is just a matter of patience,

It is just a matter of time,

It will soon fade out,

What you have today,

Was a point of hope and prayers in the time past,

Likewise,

what you are passing through now,

Will end up expiring.

All that is present,

All that is available,

Every present reality,

Is bound to change.

Behind every blue sky,

There is always a silver lining.

Ahead of that gloomy moment,

Lies the beauty and reality of a brighter day.

Be calm,

Be patient,

Be watchful.

Be hopeful,

Be prayerful.

Your time of celebration,

Is at hand.

Don’t give up.

I am waiting for you,

To relay your story of,

Conquest and victory.

I am expecting your laughter,

I am expecting your smile,

I am waiting for your tears of joy.

Just wait,

It won’t be long,

It won’t be forlorn,

It won’t be eternity,

When your story,

Will take a new turn.

Just wait.

It is a  matter of time and patience.

Those who wait patiently,

For the right thing,

At the right time,

Will live to see the reality,

Of a right thing at the right time.

Even when the reality on ground,

Is against every possible solution,

Keep moving,

Keep believing,

Keep your head up,

When others are loosing their heads.

letter 2

I promised you,

It will soon be over,

When you shall look back,

And all that will be available on your lips,

Are the stories of victories and conquests.

This is my letter to you at this moment.

Be yourself.

Live in the centre of the reality of the purpose of your existence.

Be impartful,

Be impactful,

Be a trailblazer,

Be the solution others are hopeful for.

Ahead of you,

Lies the beauty of a brighter day.

Ahead of you,

Lies the reality of a glorious future.

Keep moving.

It will soon be your turn.

This is my little way of reaching out to you.

12 BASIC FACTORS THAT ENHANCE PROSPEROUS AND BLISFUL MARITAL LIFE.—(4 MINUTES READ).

Not quite long, I stumbled upon this particular article that I pushed forward on the 27th of April 2017.

After reading through with the feelings of nostalgia,I decided to share it on my blog space in other to satisfy the reading and viewing longings of many of my readers and followers across the length and breadth of the entire world.

This article is centred around pushing a line of thought that will be an addition and an enhancer of meaningful and good marital union which is really scarce and quite unobtainable now .

marriage 2

DESIRED SHARED AUTHORITY DESERVES SHARED RESPONSIBILITY.—(4 Minutes Read).

www.Mlst.blog

The original version of this article was written and published on Facebook on the 7th of September 2016.

I read through it not quite long and I am confident that the quality of the content therein will serve as an eye-opener and a source of inspiration and motivation for many marriages and relationship that are struggling to stand and those that are on the verge of collapsing.

I believed that the purpose will be fulfilled expressly.

This is how it goes:

Without any form of argument or being old schooled, marriage imposed a level of reasonable authority on every man.

Authority is imposed by divinity through marital vow on every husband and this must be exhibited and discharged meaningfully not by masculinity and “machoness” only but by simple discharge of timely responsibility without any iota and atom of reluctance, delay and resentment.

Responsible married men are known and praised by discharging…

GAZA’S HAMAS EMBRACES ‘NON-VIOLENCE’–OPPORTUNISM OR SHIFT?—(9 MINUTES READ).

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — In a sit-in tent camp near the Gaza border with Israel, a lecturer answered questions from activists grappling with the concept of non-violent protest.

They asked what’s allowed, listing different actions. Throwing stones and holding rallies is permitted, he said. Throwing firebombs is a “maybe” and using knives a definite “no.”

Such workshops — held amid weekly mass marches on the border for the past month — are the latest sign of the Hamas militant group’s search for new tactics for breaking the debilitating blockade of Gaza. Israel and Egypt closed the borders after Hamas overran Gaza in 2007, and Israel blockades the sea and controls the skies, making it increasingly difficult for the group to govern.

The border protests were the idea of grassroots activists several months ago, and the project, envisioned as non-violent, was quickly embraced by Hamas. The militant group has led the organization and been careful to contain the protests by keeping its armed men far away and out of sight.

Hamas has been supportive, said workshop lecturer Issam Hammad, a self-described independent who runs a medical supplies company. “They encourage young people to take part.”

Any degree of non-violence would be a striking departure for Hamas, which over the years has attacked Israelis with suicide bombings, shootings and rockets. For more than a decade the group has tightly controlled Gaza, quashing dissent.

The large-scale protests are the only card the group has left, three high-ranking Hamas officials told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were discussing internal strategy.

They said Hamas rules out other options — either disarming or fighting another cross-border war with Israel. The last one, in 2014, devastated Gaza, a coastal territory with 2 million people squeezed into 140 square miles (365 square kilometers).

Bassem Naim, another senior Hamas official, believes the new method has refocused world attention on Gaza’s misery. The territory suffers from grueling power cuts and a two-thirds unemployment rate among young men.

“The momentum of the marches is going strong and will continue,” he said. “People can no longer endure the siege and will not stop until the siege is stopped.”

Each Friday, thousands of people have gathered in five tent camps near the border, while smaller groups throw stones and burn tires closer to the border fence.

Since protests began in late March, 35 Palestinians were killed and more than 1,500 wounded by Israeli soldiers firing across the border. Rights groups say open-fire regulations are unlawful because they permit troops to use potentially lethal force against unarmed protesters.

Israel says it’s defending its sovereign border, including nearby communities, and that troops only target instigators. It accuses Hamas of using the protests as a cover for damaging the fence and preparing to infiltrate and carry out attacks. There is considerable fear among Israelis of a mass breach in which Gazans stream across, militants mixed in, wreaking havoc.

Nonetheless, the European Union urged Israel to stop using deadly force against unarmed protesters, and a senior U.N. envoy to the region called Israel’s deadly shooting of a 14-year-old Gaza boy last week “outrageous.”

Hamas has kept the pressure on Israel by at least telegraphing an embrace of nonviolence. For example, top leader Ismail Haniyeh recently spoke against the backdrop of posters of icons such as Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr.

The senior Hamas officials said the movement has learned from mistakes, such as confronting Israel’s powerful military with crude rocket fire. They said Hamas is offering Israel an open-ended truce in exchange for lifting the blockade.

Hamas says it wants to keep its weapons for defensive purposes — a claim undercut by the group’s tunnel program. Hamas had built tunnels from Gaza into Israel in recent years, for attacks, before Israel began destroying them.

But Israel and Hamas’ main Palestinian rival, West Bank-based President Mahmoud Abbas, are skeptical because of the group’s refusal to disarm.

Hamas “is changing its tactics, but it’s not changing its nature and strategies,” said Palestinian analyst Abdel Majed Sweilem.

Abbas has told Egyptian mediators that he will only return to Gaza if Hamas hands over all powers, including control over weapons. Hamas drove out Abbas’ forces a year after it won 2006 Palestinian parliamentary elections.

Organizers say that in addition to compelling an end to the blockade, the marches are meant to press for the “right of return” of refugees and their descendants to what is now Israel.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled or were driven from their homes in the 1948 war over Israel’s creation, and march organizers see May 15, the anniversary of Israel’s founding, as a key target day.

Some Hamas leaders have called for a mass border breach, while others are vague. Haniyeh told protesters that “we will return to Palestine,” without giving specifics.

Either way, Hamas faces a tough decision ahead of May 15.

If it stops short of a mass breach, momentum may falter.

Israel has warned that a mass breach could lead to many casualties. If huge crowds break through the fence, Israel could have a stronger case for using lethal force.

Hamas leaders would face renewed accusations of cynically exploiting Gaza civilians — especially if senior leaders stay back while desperate young men rush into danger. A high casualty toll also risks triggering another war.

Hammad, who began holding non-violence workshops a week ago, offers a definition of non-violence disputed by Israel, whose military considers stone-throwing and burning tires “acts of terrorism.”

But it’s new to Gaza, where young people grew up with Hamas’ fiery rhetoric and lived through three wars, including massive Israeli air strikes.

Participant Yousef al-Qishawi, 27, said he grew up thinking the use of force was the only language Israel understands, but has realized it only hurts Palestinians.

“Now, we are learning about more ways and peaceful methods that are more effective,” he said.

You know like, ‘Yo, what’s up, we’re good, what are we doing?’ He was like, ‘Yeah baby do it, that’ll be fun.’ He goes, ‘I love the song.'”

The videos features Lopez as a golden queen. She said on Beats 1 that it is probably one of her favorite videos.

“Again, that whole idea of women being queens and understanding that and treating yourself like that and making somebody fight for you,” she said. “That’s what the concept of it was. It’s like, ‘Fight for me, and then you can ask me to marry you.’ And then, ‘OK where’s my ring?'”

J.Lo and A-Rod have been together for more than a year and have been seen spending time together with all their kids.

Earlier this year, Lopez talked to E! News’ Will Marfuggi about the possibility of getting engaged, as Rodriguez stood nearby.

“No, I don’t like to pressure anybody for anything,” she said, laughing and looking at A-Rod, who smiled.

During the interview, Lopez also talked another new single, the Spanglish “Dinero,” which features DJ Khaled and rising star Cardi B.

“I always liked Cardi,” she said about the rapper.

CELEBRITY:ALL THE DETAILS ON PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE’S WEDDING REHERSALS—(4 MINUTES READ).

Practice always makes perfect.

It’s no secret that royal fans from around the world will be watching Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say “I Do” on May 19. Talk about pressure for the bride and groom.

But in the days and weeks leading up to the big day, E! News is learning new details about the rehearsals underway to ensure the actual wedding day goes smoothly.

According to a source, technical rehearsals have already started at St. George’s Chapel. The objective is to make sure all the angles are correct for arrivals, the aisle and other elements.

While these take place without Prince Harry and Meghan, our insider says the couple will attend a rehearsal of their own at St. George’s Chapel two days before the wedding day.

Another source says “multiple rehearsals of different types, including for broadcasts, will be taking place.”

With the ceremony getting closer and closer, both the bride and groom-to-be are keeping a low profile. At the same time, they are making final touches before they experience one unforgettable day.

Earlier this month, Meghan flew back to her native United States and traveled to Chicago to complete an application for a U.K. visa.

She also was able to enjoy her bridal shower with close friends. According to a source, however, her bachelorette party will take place “in some form” just before the royal wedding in May.

For those who want to be part of the celebrations in some way, the couple is asking well-wishers to make a charitable donation in lieu of gifts.

“The couple have chosen charities, which represent a range of issues that they are passionate about, including sport for social change, women’s empowerment, conservation, the environment, homelessness, HIV and the Armed Forces,” Kensington Palace stated via a press release. “Many of these are small charities and the couple are pleased to be able to amplify and shine a light on their work.”

NORTH KOREA ASSURRANCES ON DENUCLEARISATION ‘WILL BE MET WITH VIGILANCE’.—(6 MINUTES READ).

Donald Trump says his leadership means US talks with North Korea will “be different” as Kim Jong Un meets South Korea’s leader.

Mike Pence and Donald Trump will approach North Korea talks with caution

The United States is “not going to be played” when it comes to talks with North Korea, Donald Trump has warned.

Speaking while welcoming German Chancellor Angela Merkel to the White House for talks, he said discussions between the North and South had “never gone this far” after the two nations agreed on “complete denuclearisation”.

However, Mr Trump also said his leadership meant US talks with North Korea would “be different” this time around. The American President is said to be deciding between two or three locations for a summit in the coming weeks.

It comes after he expressed his delight as North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in met south of the North Korean border on Friday.

:: Koreas agree on complete denuclearisation

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un gesture after signing agreements

He posted on Twitter: “KOREAN WAR TO END! The United States, and all of its GREAT people, should be very proud of what is now taking place in Korea!”

At a news conference, he said: “I want to thank Chancellor Merkel for her leadership in our campaign of maximum pressure on the North Korean regime which has helped us to reach this important step – this moment where we are right now, it’s taken a long time, many many decades to get here – let’s see what happens.

“We seek a future of peace, prosperity and harmony for the whole Korean peninsula, unlocking not only brighter future for the people of Korea but for the people of the world.

“However, in pursuit of that goal we will not repeat the mistake of past administrations – maximum pressure will continue until denuclearisation occurs. I look forward to our meeting it should be quite something.”

The two leaders meet in the demilitarised zone

While speaking to US athletes who competed at the South Korea Winter Olympics earlier on Friday, President Trump said he hoped both sides would “someday live in harmony, prosperity and peace”.

“It looks like it could happen,” he added. “When I began, people were saying that was an impossibility. They said there were two alternatives: let them have what they have or go to war.

“And now we have a much better alternative than anybody thought even possible.”

US Vice President Mike Pence said a Korean peace agreement is just one step towards denuclearisation and said that “any talks, promises and assurances will be met with reservation, vigilance and verification”.

He added: “Planning for the United States and North Korea Summit continues, but as we’ve said before – the pressure campaign will continue unabated.”

Mr Pompeo said 'channels are open' between the US and North Korea
Image:Mr Pompeo said a resolution would be ‘wonderful’ for the world

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said a meeting with Kim Jong Un would be approached with caution.

During another news briefing, he said: “The economic pressure that has been put in place by this global effort – that President Trump has led – has led to him to believe that it’s in his best interest to come to the table and talk about denuclearisation.

“I’m always careful, there’s a lot of history here where promises have been made, hopes have been raised and dashed.

“President Trump has made clear we’re gong to work to get a meeting set up – the two of them will meet. In the event that it fails, respectfully President Trump will walk away and then the pressure will remain.”

Manchester United defender, Phil Jones has told the club’s fans what to do for departing Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger as he leads the Gunners to Old Trafford on Sunday.

Jones told United fans to show Wenger the respect he deserves.

The England defender told the fans to give Arsene Wenger a good send-off.

Wenger’s visit to Old Trafford on Sunday for a Premier League clash marks the final time he will take charge of Arsenal.

The rivalry between Arsenal and Manchester United has been a recurring motif during the 68-year-old’s reign but Jones hopes he is given a good send-off.

“He’s been a fantastic manager,” Jones said.

“I’ve seen a lot of things in the press at the moment and it’s true. He changed the game of football and the way teams play.

“He’s managed some great Arsenal teams over the years that I’ve grown up watching.

“He should be respected and get the send-off he deserves,” he said.
