There was a recent development on the floor of the upper chamber today leading to the Nigeria senate giving two-week ultimatum to the acting President Yemi Osinbajo to submit the budget of all revenue generating agencies.
In line with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution and the Fiscal Responsibility Act, all government revenue generating agencies in Nigeria must submit their budget to the senate.
Many senators frowned at these agencies for not adhering with the constitution provision that authorised that their budget must be submitted to the senate.
The motion for the ultimatum was raised by Deputy Leader Bala Na’Allah on Wednesday and supported by many senators including the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu with the resolution that all the concerned 31 government revenue generating agencies must have their budget prepared and submitted in two weeks time .
The Deputy Leader also suggested that the concerned agencies should stop further spending until their budget are submitted.
